Peekskill Police received a call for a dispute between a male and female around 7:15 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Main Street, said Police Chief Eric Johansen.
When officers arrived they found a man in distress and quickly learned that he was a victim of an armed robbery, Johansen said.
The man told officers he had been attacked by a woman who threatened him with a razor and a man who pinned him against a wall and stole his wallet.
Officers radioed a description of the suspects and within minutes located the duo two blocks away, Johansen said.
The woman, identified as Saraya Bailey, 40, of Peekskill, was detained while the man was able to elude officers. Officers found a razor knife and after being positively identified by the victim was taken into custody without incident, the chief said.
The man, identified as Derrick Dickey, who police say is homeless, was located a short time later and found in possession of the money believed to have been stolen from the victim. The stolen wallet was recovered a short distance from the crime scene, Johansen said,
Both were charged with felony robbery and are being held until their court hearing.
"Sgt. Sue Bielomyza, and Officers Nick Franco, Alvaro Farias, and Scott Mcdonough, are commended for their quick response which led to the arrest of the suspects responsible for this violent offense," Johansen said. "Their teamwork resulted in two violent criminals being quickly apprehended and significant evidence linking them to this offense being recovered."
